Not Yet Convinced
It looked the same… but I could tell it wasn’t.
It was still green and slimy, but I could tell it was different.
Most mornings my wife will make me what she calls a “smoothie”. Others call it “juicing”. It’s vegetables and a little fruit put into a Vitamix and blended into what turns out to be green, slimy, goo.
Breakfast.
Healthy… or so I am told. I am not yet convinced.
Today it is different. At first, I am hit by a different smell. Probably Kale. My name for Kale is actually Ka-Ka. It’s really nasty.
I’ve been told that it is really good for me. I am not yet convinced.
Along with the smell, today’s “smoothie” is of a different texture. It is thicker. Reminds me of the strained peas that our children used to eat while sitting in a highchair.
Many would say this is really good for me. I am not yet convinced.
I have yet to taste it, but I know it is different.
I will know for sure when I taste it. If I taste it…
There are many things in our lives that look the same as what we are accustomed to; but they are different.
Different because change is constantly lurking around the corner. Most of us know that change is good, after all, everything this side of heaven can be improved upon. Most of us know and embrace that new ways of doing things are needed. We know this because we are leaders.
So we smell change in the air. It is different. Healthy? Maybe… we are not yet convinced.
It feels different, almost as if the texture of what we do and how we do it is changing. The ways we have become accustomed to seem to be shifting. Is it good for us?
Maybe… we are not yet convinced.
So we sit in front of change. We agree with the need for it, yet we are unconvinced.
The Secret? There’s only one way to find out. Taste it.
Taste it and see that it is good… or at least good for us.
